A little over a week ago, our program had organised the Seminar on School Bus Safety Policy and Standards as part of the efforts to improve students’ safety and access to school buses. This morning, Thailand Country Manager of AIP Foundation Oratai Junsuwanaruk was at the Parliament as a representative of AIP Foundation under LDP, to submit proposed policy recommendations to the First Vice President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) Surachai Liangboonlertchai. At the same meeting, Oratai also proposed ways policymakers and lawmakers can provide support to local administrative organisations to arrange safe school bus services for students including revising the Determining Plan and Procedures in Decentralizations to the Local Administrative Organization B.E. 2542 (1999) to make the duty to provide safe school transport for students part of education provision.
LDP Thailand is a collaboration between the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP Foundation) Thailand and the World Health Organization (WHO) aiming to reduce road traffic injuries and fatalities through legislative improvement, supported by the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
