On 24 August 2018, five LDP members including Kasarin Trintrakul, Pol Col Kriangdej Chantarawong, Pol Lt Colonel Dr Panupong Panudulkitti, Pisith Wongthiathana and Thanachart Paliyawate, together with Thailand Country Manager of AIP Foundation Oratai Junsuwanaruk attended the 11th ATRANS (Asian Transportation Research Society) Annual Conference on “Transportation for a Better Life: Lessons Learned from Global Experiences to Local Best Practices” at Radisson Blu Hotel, Bangkok.
The conference, presided over by Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, began with a panel discussion with five experts from the UK, Australia, Vietnam and Australia who shared their experiences and lessons learned on managing road safety. In the afternoon, Thanachart Paliyawate presented his paper on school transport safety, “Practical Approach for Improving Safety of School Transport in Thailand” in which the adjunct professor lays out the challenges in the provision of safe school transport in Thailand and practical solutions to address the gaps from providing technical and financial support for provision of safe private hire vehicles (PHV) to setting up a joint committee to assign management point.
