On 24 July 2019, Manager of the Legal Development Program (LDP) Dr Wiwat Seetamanotch attended the launch of the Key Facts on Road Safety Situations in Thailand 2018, held at the Grand Mercure Bangkok Fortune. Here are some of the facts from the report:
- In 2018, 20,169 people were killed in road crashes and the road traffic death rate (per 100,000 population) in Thailand now stands at 29.9.
- 3 in 4 of those killed in road crashes were men, aged between 15-24.
- Motorcycle riders account for 70% of road deaths, car users 14% and pedestrians 10%, respectively.
- Rayong has the highest road traffic death rate per 100,000 population (65.53).
