LDP and partners held talk to present the new demerit point system

On 7 October 2019, road safety organisations in Thailand including the Legal Development Program (LDP) jointly held a talk at Grand Mercure Bangkok Fortune on new traffic rules aimed at saving lives. Under the new Road Traffic Act, which went into effect on 20 September, a new demerit point system would be implemented to, among other things, strengthen enforcement of traffic laws, ensure fair and consistent treatment and deter repeat offences in order to reduce injuries and deaths from road crashes. Find out more about the penalties including points and fines from the table below.

The demerit point system is expected to come into effect later this year.
