LDP in meeting with lawmakers to improve road safety

On 25 October 2019, the Legal Development Program (LDP) held a meeting to present the project progress to lawmakers including MP Dr Surachet Pravinvongvuth and Senator Surachai Liengboonlertchai at Amari Don Muang Airport Hotel, Bangkok. Also in attendance were representatives from the Road Safety Working Group, the Royal Thai Police, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the Department of Highways, the Department of Rural Roads, WHO Thailand, the Thailand Research Fund and the quality of life improvement group.

In addition to a session on improving road safety advocacy through the mechanisms of the Committee on Transportation of the National Legislative Assembly and Parliament, attendees also brainstormed ways to push for the creation of Parliament Advisory Council for Road Safety (PACRS), whose members would comprise MPs, senators, lawmakers, legal experts, specialists and senior officers at the operational level. An action plan will be developed by the LDP team in the coming weeks to make this a reality!
