LDP joined in defining Senate’s roles in tackling road safety

On 15 November 2019, the Legal Development Program (LDP) participated in a seminar, “Accelerating Road Safety Towards Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of Parliamentarians” held by the World Health Organisation (WHO) at Pullman Bangkok King Power. Also in attendance were members of ASEAN/WHO Leadership Council for SEA Road Safety Network and the Senate Standing Committee on Transportation, former ministers and representatives of embassies in Thailand. Key recommendations from the seminar included making road traffic injury a national agenda, establishing a national-level central authority responsible for strategic direction setting and monitoring and evaluation and learning from the successes of the UK’s Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) and Australia’s Parliamentary Friends of Road Safety.
